Canada's Opposition Parties Vow to Bring Down Government, 1 month into its term...

I was going to respond to your posts a few back about AB being pissed at the moment.
This is why I said earlier I think Canada is a failed experiment. Unavoidable regionalism will be the death of us (among other problems).
It probably would be best off divided into four:
1) BC + Alberta + Saskatchewan + Yukon
2) Manitoba + Ontario + NWT + Nunavut
3) Quebec
4) Leftovers
"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
Ben Kenobi: "That means I'm doing something right. "
I deliberately refrained from my usual style of information coupled with insult because I wanted to see what NYE would do. And sure enough, he resorted to name-calling fairly quickly. Though admittedly I returned the favour once he cracked the seal.
He's been more crotchety since I got back.
Albertans are incensed, genuinely, right now. It's not going to take much to set people off.

The Conservative ads started this morning. I don't watch TV but I did hear two radio ads.

What ads?

I'm a lot more optimistic about the Canadian experiment than you guys are.
Do you really not remember that just twenty years ago we had the unholy alliance of Quebec and Alberta returning Mulroney to Ottawa?
I don't see Canadian politics as (generally) more regionalist than US politics, for instance. Individual elections may be, but it's a constantly shifting situation.

It makes more sense for Manitoba to go west. Northern Ontario doesn't even want to be part of Ontario as the interests of the south are so much different than theirs. Regionalism within a province...

I don't have a huge problem with Conservative policy either. Just leadership. The man doesn't have a non-partisan bone in his body.
Who would you say does have a non-partisan bone in their body then? You told us who you hate - so who meets with the approval of the all-mighty Wezil?
If at first you don't succeed, take the bloody hint and give up.
Attack ads. Quotes Dion made in the last election (in his own words of course) about how he can't partner with the NDP.

Look, I'd prefer Harper in power to Dion right now.
But I'm able to see that going back to the electorate within a couple of months of the last election is a fairly radical solution. The Governor General giving the official opposition a chance to govern first has its precedents. It's never happened when the opposition was so far behind the plurality party, but I think that it would be a completely unprecedented move to give the G-G such latitude in determining the will of Canadians. Up to now, the G-G has played a moderator's role, not an arbiter's. I'm not sure that the G-G will be happy about taking so much responsibility on herself.
I'm also able to criticise those policies of Harper's which are wrong-headed (as per his greenhouse reduction plan compared to Dion's, or the GST reduction).
It is just as unhealthy for Albertans to wallow in their sense of victimhood as it is for Quebecers to.

I was actually thinking about that. I have to say I am the exact opposite in that I am not at all partisan. I am critical of any stupid or incompetent politician that wants to represent me. I refer you to the thread from 2 elections ago as evidence. I was all over the Liberals in that one as I felt the party responsible for Adscam HAD TO GO.
Who meets my approval? There is the problem. Our system produces very few men of principle and virtually no "statesmen". I am however prepared to give people a chance. I supported Harper and voted for him in his 1st win as he claimed he wanted to do things differently. Within days of his election he showed me what that meant.

Everyone is partisan. You just hate the party in power, because you hate all politicians and the party in power is the only one that matters.
It's easy to see...

Shouldn't I get an official title or something for that?

The party in power is usually the one doing stuff so they are a bigger target.
I have approved of governments in the past though they were usually at the provincial level. The Feds rarely impress me.
