  • And we need more beach-blanket movies ....

Swimsuit-clad teens, dancing and singing to innane plots

i feel so left out. i haven't heard of like 70% of the mentioned movies.
Consider yourself lucky. Most of these are really bad movies. --- Not Robin Hood, Men in Tights of course.

      • All those 50's sci-fi movies. And everything with Goldie Hawn in it.
Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyards
And notifying the next of kin
        Once again...

          • I remain amazed at the cast assembled for this movie. The much-reviled Tim Allen is perfectly cast as the blithely self-absorbed lead. Sigourney Weaver mocks her own sci-fi past with knowing conviction, and of course looks amazing. Alan Rickman is awesome as the jaded, disillusioned thespian ("You never cared enough about craft!"). Plus Daryl "Chill" Mitchell, Justin "I'm a Mac" Long and the always-awesome Tony Shalhoub.

              • I recall Lysette Anthony's cleavage, but little else.

Galaxy Quest straddles that fine line between guilty pleasure and just plain awesome.

And of course that scene with the psycho rocket-fuel trucker just made the ending:
                  Ahhhh. They cut the part:

John Candy: "What are you hauling, here?"
                  Driver: "Rocket fuel!"
                  John Candy: "perfect"

                    it has the cheerleader chick!

My guilty pleasures are Mallrats and Friday, but I'm not afraid to admit it

                    Others, that are classically bad;

The Aventures of Baron Von Munchausen
                    Remo Williams
                    Army of Darkness

                    • Speaking of guilty, guilty pleasures, I can't seem to turn off Roadhouse whenever it's on cable. Somehow I also can't help but fondle myself in the process.

                      • The couples porn film I mentioned earlier in this thread may be better in that regard.

                          • A League of Their Own. I think that one qualifies. Major League, but I dunno if that's something to be guilty about. I like baseball, ya know? Hell, I even got through For Love of the Game, though I wouldn't go so far as to say I liked it.

                            Those that have been mentioned:

                            Fifth Element
                            Clue
                            Breakfast Club, et al.
                            Galaxy Quest

Starship Troopers... went right over my head when I saw it. I though it was blow **** up in space. Popcorn. Not political satire. So I was unprepared and my reaction was WTF? That sucked. Looking back at it... I get it, but I still think it kinda sucks as a movie.

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.
