I'm bored because I'm trying to finish up a paper, but the only thing left to do is to get the numbers a little tighter than they are currently, which involves a lot of me sitting around waiting for monte carlos to stop running (they've been going on 5 processors for a week now; need another week or so).
While I don't want to be focused, I have a thesis to write, two talks for my collaboration to do, more analysis to do (I have enough to write my thesis, but I want more), and I need to finalize the calibration for my detector (which is what I was working on 1.5 years ago, and didn't enjoy at all).

I was being envious.
Our large data set takes over a month to replay. I don't expect to be able to include it in my thesis because we have to do another replay to take it to the next 'level' and that probably won't happen until mid-spring at the earliest.

High-end desktop processors. I try to only use about half the power the little high energy theory group has at one time as a politeness issue.
I've got 6 different processes (each process is ~40 subprocesses) to simulate and a few of them are 2 body -> 5 body processes (some of them with heavy flavour quarks i.e. b quarks; this factor adds a huge amount to complexity of interaction matrix element). Each of those processes is run through ~ twenty billion times, and even so I only get a few dozen acceptable events.
I know a bit about strange physics, and a very small amount about charm physics. I think I would have to remember back 5? years ago to when I was taking particle classes for anything about bottom or top physics.

Why do you have to know anything special about c or s? At the energy scales we're talking about they're massless. You just need to know how to use the ckm matrix.
What I meant was measurement related information. And I was talking in general, not about LHC energies in specific.
