    In both states?

          That's just great.

The only future route I can see now, is the Democrats in Washington DC working to repeal the DOMA on federal level and then see how well the states' anti gay amendments hold up without DOMA.

Its going to be close in CA, but only the bay area is voting over 50% no, and that is usually not enough.

Won't matter. All DOMA really does is restate what is already allowed under Full Faith and Credit jurisdiction. No state has to accept a ruling from another state that violates the state's public policy. It has been used in the past for states to not recognize marriages between, say, 12 year olds.

Hmmm, once all California ballots get counted I think that my prediction back in January of Obama beating McCain by 5 will be just about perfect...

Wow, the gay marriage ban is going to be really close in CA. A few counties that were voting yes have switched to no. Its probably going to come down to LA in the end, where it is currently leading 53-47 with 10% in.

If this was already under the Full Faith and Credit jurisdiction what was the point of DOMA then?

Exit polls for CA Prop 8 have it losing 52-48. I think it will be tighter than that, but am cautiously optimistic it will end up losing.

Its running out of "no" counties though. LA is voting 55-45 in favor, which will probably be enough to pass it.

Think 8 will stay ahead. But however, in the long term Gay Marriage will come out on top, just look at the stark difference between the young and old in just about every bit of polling on the issue. Eventually the old will die off...

Also, didn't it do something regarding federal recognition of the marriages?

Ah yes... forgot about that... so it did actually do something (feds can't recognize same sex marriage for things like tax and whatnot).
