It was, originally. Lately it's been (jokingly) used as a way to determine who's actually black and who's just a really tanned white person.

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

I never met or heard of a Belgian who wasn't completely a vile and unlikeable person. The exception to this is Hercule Poirot.

He is openly religious but it doesn't seem very genuine.

Do you really believe this (that she's more religious than Obama)?

Personally, I agree for the most part with Colon on this. Although I do not know in reality that there is a stigma.

It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. There is a difference between going to church occasionally/etc, and going to prayer meetings/etc.

That says nothing about whose religion is more genuine. That just means that Hillary was the last candidate to be someone who spent extra time going to weekly prayer meeting and the like.

My understanding is that Obama's religion is pretty liberal, while Hillary's is (liberal) southern. I don't know anything about McCain's religion.

By the way, I wonder whether "Jindal is a closet Hindu" will have the same currency as "Obama is a closet Muslim."

That's more than skepticism. If he'd ever actually been a Muslim and then switched it would be a bit different.

Probably not. And I agree with you that the greatest tragedy is that being a Muslim could seriously adversely affect his prospects. But I find your skepticism about whether it would or not to be overly optimistic.
