Do you really think more than a majority of Congress would respond to that veto by clinging to their pork to the point of stalling the government? As sick as I am of hearing the words "you will know their names, my friends," that's very much the point: it would put them in the tough position of having to come out for or against the earmarked or non-earmarked draft on the record. Some are still in fairly close districts and states, mind you.
      Unbelievable!

Not good enough. That's how old Obama was when he was conspiring with Ayres to bomb the Pentagon.

              • Yeah, the people who favor McCain due to tax reasons all make far less than 200k (that I know).

They are either illinformed, or very ideological.

Or maybe some/many/most just look at a voting record from past years and inconsistent statements from past weeks (first $250K, then $200K, then $150K, and even a quick $120K from Richardson, then reassurances of $250K again), and then conclude based on these that a promise and the future are two very different things?

Sure some don't know or care to know Obama's stated policy, but others do know it and just choose not to believe that he'll follow through.

Not my personal belief, but understandable.

That $250,000 keeps changing. He himself said $200,000 recently. Then after that, Biden said $150,000. Now Richardson (one of his advisors) said $120,000. I think that is part of the fear. That by the time he, a philabuster-proof Senate and an overwhelmingly Democratic house get down to really making the Tax Rates it will be significantly less than $250,000 and probably less than $120,000.

Time will tell (assuming he wins)

150k was an example used by Biden to show how much of a tax break somebody in that range would get. 200k is individual. 250k is family. Not that confusing, except if somebody tries to make it so.

Note that I don't believe that stated tax policies will have anything to do with what actually happens.

Note that I wasn't arguing for or against the point. I just find it silly to assume supporters of McCain on the tax issue simply don't know or care what Obama has said about it. A promise is just that.

Personally I think they'll stick to the promise; if not for integrity, then at least to make sure they don't get ass-reamed in 2010-2016 for a lie without which Obama might not have won. Hopefully they're smart enough to realize by now that the only way you can beat the GOP on the tax issue is by taxing someone other than your own base.

First of all - my name isn't Jesus Christ although I suppose one could consider Jesus Christ a Deity Dude.

Second I posted before you and during Darius's post so I was unable to read them before I posted.

Finally I stand by my post. Which you sort of agreed with. My point was the number keeps changing or is getting "confusing" and that people fear the final product will be different than the $250k number. You yourself said you thought that final product would be different than the promise.
