The CBC isn't reporting anything until 10.

Dear god, I wish our elections were held today. American elections are interminable.

It's sickening how many seats the Bloc gets with so few votes

          So far CBC is reporting:

          edit:

          Cons - 134
          Lib - 73
          Bloc - 48
          NDP - 31
          Green - 0

Elected and Likely. So far it's looking like another Harper minority.

Also looks like Justin Trudeau got elected in a landslide.

edit: Apparently those were just the first few hundred votes. Now he's only up by 10% or so

The Liberals are on pace to kick the NDP out of my riding.

                  What's the majority threshold again?

154 is half. I assume you need 50% + 1 to actually get stuff done?

                      Latest:

                      Cons 143
                      Lib 79
                      Bloc 47
                      NDP 32
                      Independent 3

So conservatives are 12 short of majority, but there's only 13 seats left. (Mind you some could shift as not all above races are decided.)

Do you understand how just few of the votes have been counted?

Not that I think it'll change massively, but you sound pretty confident about the results so far...which is a mistake.

Yes, but I'm making the assumption that there's no bias in the error (i.e. some ridings will change hands, but the overall counts won't change much.)

If you want to be more accurate:

                          Cons 112 + 33 = 145
                          Lib 58 + 19 = 77
                          Bloc 40 + 9 = 49
                          NDP 22 + 12 = 34
                          Ind 1 + 1 = 2

The first column is those the CBC is reporting as elected, the second column is those where they're leading.

Keep in mind that vote counting probably started over 3 hours ago in the east, just that results weren't reported.

"elected" doesn't mean elected though, it really just means "leading" and some numbnuts at CBC thinks they can't possibly lose...

Judging by the counts in my riding, they've counted about 10%...

For fortunes to shift in a riding that has been counting for hours, you'd have to have polls that are completely out of left or right field.

You can generally and accurately predict a seat on as little as 20% of the vote counted. The number becomes large enough to be 'statistically accurate.'
