Had he paddled their asses and thrown them out of their trailer or turned them over to the police, I would not be so outraged. He murdered children. If some troubled kid broke into a trailer and someone paddled their ass with a shotgun, they may be scared straight.Comment

I still would not much care if he beat the crap out of them. That may be wrong but not so much that I care. The problem is that he executed children that he had utterly in his power, they were no threat to him.
The punishment for burglarly is not death. The supreme court recently ruled in effect, that the death penalty is only constitutional for murder, or treason. This was not self defence.
Snoopy: Both the prosecution and the defense agreed that the kids were on their knees and shot from behind. That is not an issue in dispute. I do not need to be there, the defendant said what happened.Comment

don't tell me you didn't do some stupid irresponsible stuff when you were 13. Obviously this is anecdotal, but I know several people who shoplifted, trespassed, vandalized and maybe even engaged in petty theft at 13, and guess, what? Even though no one beat the living $@!% out of them with a shotgun, or executed them, they turned out all right.

Still: they were unarmed, at his mercy, on their knees. The setting doesn't matter, the right thing to do was to contact the police, not to summarily execute them. The facts of the case are not in dispute. ALL SIDES AGREE that the two youths were just looking for junk food, that they were on their knees, with their backs to the killer before he shot them.
The only question is between civilized people and barbarians. Civilized people understand that it is not acceptable to use deadly force on people who are not an imminent threat to anyone.
