Still, there are so many commercials, distractions like tickers and trivial news stories that I find it's much better just to read news articles online or otherwise.

Also, Nancy Grace is the worst news personality ever. Every time I manage to get a glimpse of her program there is always some missing white girl story.
Keith Olberman thinks he's smart & funny. He isn't.
The one time I watched Rachel Maddow, she wasn't too awful.
I'm stunned that Nancy Grace is still polluting cable TV. She needs to be locked up in a room and given crayons.

Or BTW: The news-bunny clones on Fox need to be given rabies shots. They're all gorgeous and venomous.

Asher, I feel the same way about CNN and MSNBC. It seems that there is something in people that gives them a different sense one from another. Like we can't see things the same way Asher, and that's interesting to me.

Btw, Bill O'Rielly isn't supposed to be news and he certainly isn't a Repug. I've seen him go after Repugs pretty hard, and he blamed the Bush administration and all the other administrations that didn't warn the folks for the financial crisis. He blasted the treasury guy that came up with the plan for keeping the emergency sectret and then said he can't be trusted to come up with a rescue package.

Usually if he tells someone to shut up its because Bill can't get a word in edgewise and the other guy is just spouting his agenda without discussion. Funny, Bill usually tells a guy to shut up about the time I think to myself 'I wish that A-hole would shut up'...let someone else speak.

Yeah, I especially liked it when Bill was being owned by that kid and he just kept telling the kid to shut up. It was classicly awesome journalism.

O'Reilly is a neo-con hack but it's not O'Reilly's political views that make him terrible, it's that he has an abrasive personality and often interrupts his guests when they are trying to present points. He's a terrible journalist.

Is he a journalist? I thought his position was more of a commentary style. I don't consider those folks opinion types.

Some US 'news' shows make me feel as if I'm constantly under machine gun fire

Germans should be used to that feeling.

Rather than the warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you hear a German newscaster barking?

Exactly. You get better news in Germany, or you did in the '70s anyway.

Well, I watch the BBC quite often as well, and they don't seem to need the overly dramatic style the US news often show.

I've watched BBC Asia a few times in the Phils and they don't even try to hide their liberal bias.

                                BBC World has no bias

Nah, of course they have. I was more about how they overall present the news.....
