So, 10% of blacks are changing their vote for racial reasons. The thread speculated that 6% weren't going to vote Obama for racial reasons. Which race is more racist?

Personally I like Obama. Were it not for the abortion issue I would be crossing party lines to vote for him. I couldn't give a crap about race.

However I know the dems and when the recriminations start they'll start blaming race. Look at the premise of this thread, they already have started.

Yes, but those ten percent are REPUBLICANS! And the 6% turning away from Obama are the most ring-wing Democrats. In other words, it's right wingers that are racist.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

        Really?

        You're serious?

There is no way you are serious about this.
This was pretty much the consensus until it appeared that Obama could actually WIN the democratic nomination, then the partisan hacks realized the talking point of racism hurting Obama could make a great way to gather sympathy votes for general election.

No really, did you pay attention to the debates and media coverage of the Democratic primary? There weren't any issue dilemmas or candidates making a stand on hard choices presented, the only difference was that the other was a woman and the other was a black person. If you wanted to prove that you are a true enlightened "progressive" anti-racist, you voted for the black person.

I agree that racial discrimination is making a significant mark on this campaign. I disagree that it is hurting Obama. Whites who want to prove themselves they aren't racist are attracted to voting a black guy just because he doesn't fit in to the stereotype of a black man as a stupid monkey, see an article (made during the primary season, when liberals were arguing amongst themselves) about the magic negro effect on Los Angeles Times.

I personally am deciding based on what the candidates have said, not what FOX News or CNN or other media outlets have to say. For chrissakes, just listen to Hannity and Limbaugh.

This is the correct approach to an educated voting public. Pay close attention to what the candidates are actually saying and doing (have done!), **** the spinmeisters who are manufacturing "scandals" in the press.

Listening to what the candidates say is pointless because they lie all the time about what they plan to do in order to win votes. Looking at what they've done is the only way to get a feel for how they'll really govern. This is difficult in Obama's case, however, as he hasn't really done much in his time in politics.

A lot of whites will vote against Obama simply because he's black.
A lot of blacks will vote for him for the same reason.
We will never konw the exact (or even approximate) number of each.

Additionally, how many blacks are in this country? How many whites?

More additionally, how many of the black people in America are likely voters? How many whites?

Well, it's clear that Obama, being a half-black man, isn't enough like the average white person.

He's not just like them. Palin and McCain, being all-white, on the other hand, are.

Has nothing to do with race. It's more that Obama's just uppit an elitist, and can't connect to the regular voters. And he's no maverick.
