Asher is a dumb ****. M$ is spending a couple hundred mill to create boring commercials. Apple is spending a couple ten mill to create fun commercials that people click on and relate to.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

You're correct that Apple's ads are more effective than the first two at targeting intellectual lightweights such as yourself. They're more literal and black and white. There's no allusions, no in-jokes, and no implications. Just straight-up FUD and embellishment.
I presume we'll get to that point with the MS commercials once they start talking real product, rather than doing an image makeover (which I think they are largely successful with as a whole).
And don't call me a dumb **** -- I remember quite clearly a thread you made years ago getting all excited about open source hardware design. I told you that **** won't fly."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
Ben Kenobi: "That means I'm doing something right. "

To be clear, I was interested in open source hardware design as related to FPGAs and wanted to hear more. I've never been wedded to the concept.
Of course, this has nothing to do with the pathetic waste of hundreds of millions of dollars in which M$ is engaging.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. Frankly I just find them refreshing from most commercials...Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

If it weren't for Asher's obcession with MS (not to confuse it with his other obcessions), I wouldn't have noticed the commercial on TV.
