The real reason for keeping Palin from the press is clear:

She was able to read and deliver her acceptance speech directly from the teleprompter. And she did a great job. But before she is allowed to speak to the press, the GOP needs 2 weeks to inject the rest of their pre-programmed statements and responses into Palin's brain.

In the meantime, any attempt to vet her publicly and perhaps learn something other than what the RNC wants us to know will be dismissed and decried as sexism. The level of cynical manipulation in the selection and selling of Palin by the GOP is appalling.

It's hardly a GOP phenomenon. This is bottom line how politics in America work. Everyone looks to find the simplest (albeit ridiculous) stories that are likely to gain traction in the public, and the simplest way to dismiss facts/accusations leveled by the other side. Sometimes one side or the other gets creative and cuts an entire controversy from whole cloth. On these counts, both political parties are guilty as hell.

I'm a little bit concerned about Palin needing to try out 5 colleges before finding one that would give her a degree.
Obama attended two undergraduate institutions (Occidental and Columbia) and has yet to release his transcripts from either.

I'm pretty certian that places her IQ well below Bush's 125.
Few people remember, but Bush actually had better grades in college than Gore or Kerry.

Gore and Kerry were children of privilege, as well, as is Obama (and McCain, for that matter).

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

You don't think attending one of the top-two private schools in Hawaii (paid for by your bank vice-president grandmother) followed by a posh liberal-arts school in Los Angeles and then Columbia University in New York qualifies one as "privileged"?

Obama, raised by a singe mother, entered the prestigious school at age ten on a scholarship.

I know that Obama is quick to mention he went to Punahou on a scholarship. However, it should be noted that he never mentions how much of the tuition was covered by said scholarship. Obama has tried very hard to portray his upbringing as far more humble than it actually was, but the facts don't really support his narrative. For example, no truly poor student would abandon a full scholarship at Occidental to transfer to Columbia, one of the most expensive universities in the world.

On a side note, it'd be interesting if the American media would expend the same effort on exploring Obama's past as they have on Sarah Palin's. It's very hard to find anything of interest about Obama's time at Occidental, Columbia and Harvard Law.

In other words, you're making **** up.

I wouldn't describe Obama's background as "poor," but he obviously wasn't "privileged" in the sense that guys like McCain or Kerry were.

Jon Stewart plays nice, even with republicans. They seldom actually talk politics.

I know you're not stupid enough to compare Stewart with O'Reilly...
