How exactly is voting "wasting time"? Also, non-issue of election days were made a holiday, as they should, so people can get their ass to vote.

A system in which at best 35% of voters pick the president because 40% of voters didn't even come out to vote is a broken system.

Why do you think people don't vote? They don't care enough (for those on the ballot at least) to do so.

So if you force them to vote they're going to cast their vote for whatever. First name on the ballot... Flip a coin... Write in something stupid (if allowed)... "Random noise".

Or as I said... to vote out the idiots who passed/support such a stupid law as compulsory voting, so they (the forced voters) can go back to doing what they chose to do... not vote.

I don't want a lazyass to vote. I don't want to hear them later, either.

While plenty of people would be jackasses, do you really think those kinds of people don't vote already? more importantly, why do you think Americans are less capable than voters in other countries where voting is compulsory? None of those countries have overturned those laws, and they aren't falling apart.

I have never been one to dote on the abilities of most of my fellow citizens - in fact I am ashamed of many of them, but I don't believed that if forced to undertake their civic duty that they would make complete asses of themselves.

You aren't listening GePap. People don't vote because they don't want to... they have no real preference... or don't care... so forcing them to vote at best means you're just adding random noise. Maybe your elections already have that random noise forced in, but I don't see any point to it.

I'd personally just vote to out anyone who supported compulsory voting. You'd just be wasting my time forcing me to vote, as well as the resources involved in forcing me to vote, registering me, giving me time in the ballot box... it's a dumb idea.

I know e x a c t l y what you mean. Before Palin was on the ticket I was the same in my view. However I now find some small hope in their ticket.

                Here's a pic, I'll continue after.

Dolores and I can bring toys and clothes and build a pool for these kids for when the waves are too big. They can't get the stuff for themselves and their immediate family can't afford it so we give them that help to enjoy their childhood. Only the president can pick justices that give kids the chance to be born so they can live their lives. That's pretty simple. Only we can vote to put a guy in that will do that.

Otherwise I don't care about politicos one way or another. They all turn corrupt. That said, I have a glimmer of hope for these two politicos, call me a sucker.

OK: You are totally a sucker.

You had it right when you said they all turn corrupt.

I certainly give a damn, but I'm too old and jaded to get my panties in a bunch over politics.

                          I vote.

Your poll question includes the word bunch and yet no pun in the banana option? I can't decide whether I'm proud or ashamed that I voted for it. I think I'm leaning toward proud.

You've confirmed proud. I knew it was willpower, rather than oversight.
