  • Incidentally, Palin still hasn't been interviewed by a serious news organization. She has been the presumptive Republican Vice Presidential nominee for nearly a week. This has got to be some kind of record...

After all the Democrats talked about the sexism against Hillary Clinton, the Democratic media and blogosphere using sexism against Palin is a joke.

Speaking of the 24 years after the Dems nominated a women... how many other VP candidates have they had since then that has been female?

Yes it is. Did you exect anything else from our joke of a political system?

          None. So?

I bet that's why MOBIUS is "leaving forever." He can't compete with somebody who's just as misanthropic and ill-mannered as himself AND pretentious to boot. Aggie is the Toyota to Moby's GM.

But as for ignoring him, I find endless "This person is on your ignore list. Click here to blahblah" notes infinitely more annoying than any poster. I suggest Guy just do what I did and pester Agathon until he puts Guy on his ignore list. That way Agathon won't bother him personally.

              • Whatever people say about Palins lack of experience, I bet even the most left-wing democrats can agree that she probably knows more about foreign policy than GW Bush did in 2000*. Despite that she has only been abroad twice.

*I remember a TV interview where he could not answer more than a few quiz questions correctly, and failed on all others. And the questions were easy for anyone who follows the World news. Like "Who is the current head of state in Pakistan?"

Your analysis misses an american leftwing perspective. She is a redneck! Much more so than GW Bush. Bush is really just a texan. You do not want a redneck running the free world. Trust me!

I'll tell you something. If a redneck were president after 9-11 a nuke would have been used.

That's interesting. You would think they would have her all over the media at this time.

Sure you do. Unfortunately, more and more it's simply *reflecting* what the masses want, which is lightweight, quick stuff. IOW, Hollywood-type fluff.

If you want substantive coverage of the issues, you can start by making your voice loud and clear to the media that most directly affects you (local sources) and going up from there.

I'm a journalist IRL, and I *dislike* where a lot of the coverager is going in my chosen profession. I've fought against some of it, but it's a losing battle. And you want to know why, Guy? Because if average folks really cared, they'd be flooding us with letters, e-mails, visiting our offices and whatnot.

But they're not. They do care about *local* coverage, though, and, in response, that's where the media is moving. Unfortunately, that's leaving a gap at the regional, national and international levels where, time and again, folks simply don't care about the news because, on the surface, it appears to have nothing to do with their everyday lives.

I could go on and on, but, really, Guy, if you care about what your media covers, learn more about journalism and then speak up to your providers. Multiply that by a thousandfold, and it's quite possible you'll see a shift in how the media covers the world.

Hickel WON! The AIP was legitimized and actually held the governotship of Alaska. Hickel was a huge supporter of Palin in her race for Governor.

That Sara Palin attended the AIP convention is not the "killer" revelation some are making it out to be - for a while at least, the AIP was legit. Yes, the AIP is extreme but they're not completely out of the "Alaska Mainstream."

                              • BTW Palin never actually banned any books, she just tried to.

Shortly after becoming mayor, former city officials and Wasilla residents said, Ms. Palin approached the town librarian about the possibility of banning some books, though she never followed through and it was unclear which books or passages were in question.
When Sarah Palin ran for mayor in 1996, Wasilla, Alaska, got its first local lesson in wedge politics.
