The one thing I hate most about filosofy majors and Green/Liberal/NDP supporters are these mythical "green technologies".

Name one such "green technology" that can offset billions and billions of dollars in the IMMEDIATE TERM that will flee from Alberta to cheaper oil countries... You can't do it, because they don't exist. You guys assume there's magic green technologies we'll grow because Albertans will be getting shafted with more tax burdens while ****ing Dodge Charger auto manufacturers in Ontario get a tax break.

Alberta is spending $4.7B of currently-announced funding for "green technology" R&D. Dion is pretending that only with the Green Shift can we do this, it's not true. He's simply ****ing over Alberta, giving Ontario and Quebec people tax cuts, and claiming we'll magically grow technologies with funding that DOESN'T EXIST.

Those billions of dollars Alberta is spending on true green tech R&D? It'll disappear with the green shift. Instead that money is going to go for TAX CUTS in eastern Canada. How the **** is that more green?

There's holes in the Green Shift all over. Fiscally, it's troubled. National unity, it'll threaten. Busineses, it'll drive away. Environmentally, it's epicly useless.

It's not about environment, it's about wealth redistribution. In real terms, it'll suck away Green Tech R&D funding. It's true, look it up.

I'm done talking with you until you can do some ****ing basic research. I'm in no mood to lecture you over and over on basic things which you "didn't know" until I told you. Show some initiative.

Please don't bother. Take the effort you put into filosofy essays, multiply it by 10, then reply.

Reacquaint yourself with the concept of research, which I think you might've done back in high school. Look into how much Alberta is spending on green R&D. Look at how much a "revenue neutral tax shift" would spend on green R&D. Tell me how the latter is better for the environment.

It's really simple for people with analytical minds. It might take you a while, but if you keep on truckin', you'll get it eventually.

I agree the global woes aren't the fault of the Conservatives but it appears the issue is hurting them. Strange since polling on leadership shows Harper still leads the others when it comes t trust on economic issues...

Another week of continued stock chaos could be very bad news for Harper.

Campaign about nothing

I think Harper has screwed the pooch. I'd bet better than even money the reason we are having an election is the government had some warning that recent events were coming and they wanted to sneak a campaign in before any significant financial fireworks went off.

They wanted to run a campaign a la question period, on sound bites and snarky comments with a lot of commercials thrown in. They wanted to run on nothing.

How else do you contrast the election that brought them to power, with five major policies in five days, early in the campaign, that largely defined the course of the campaign, and they managed that not having the power of when to start the campaign? They were ready.

The Tories have seemed sorely unready for this campaign, aside from the sweaters. Did they really think 4 opposition parties would just let them look nice, do nothing, and win?

I think the sweaters backfired and cost more votes than they earned.

Conservatives are now in a race to hang on to what they had. You are right, it has been a very poorly run campaign. The late platform makes me think they weren't ready. There's no excuse for this as it was the Conservatives that called the election. It looks like they caught themselves by surprise.

What happens to Harper if the unthinkable happens and they lose? There isn't a lot of leadership depth in the Conservative party at the moment.
