Man, if she got 27 million for her little town, that has to make her the best mayor in history. If she was really good at getting earmarks for her state while using a line-item veto to control state spending, that has to make her one of the best governors in History.
Now I'm impressed. Or are mayors and governors not supposed to get money for their local area.

Governors are to govern the state. Not funnel money from other regions of the state to your hometown.

Any Governor or Senator that get's more money back from the feds than they give is considered a success. Most senators campaign on victories like that.
At least in the real world.
Or do you think governing has nothing to do with money.

Viewers were a more pro-Bush group than likely voters at large, favoring Bush by a 13-point
margin going into the debate.
The fact that Bush seemed to do well according to disproportionately pro-Bush viewers doesn't really prove all that much. I'm not sure what else we have to go on, but this hardly establishes that Bush "won." Not that I'm terribly interested in arguing the point -- you may very well be right -- but too many discussion with Ben Kenobi have made me a bit of a stickler about evidence.

Pardon me for being from a country that's more evolved politically than fiscal tug'o'war.

It proves that. . . "I don't think most . . . viewers thought that Bush beat Gore" was incorrect.
That is, unless you want to be lame and quibble with "most."
Anyway, wouldn't you agree that Gore did abysmally compared to what people thought he would do? As such, it was unpredictable. I will give you more credit than to think you enjoyed Mr. Gore's thousand references to a lock-box.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

No, we're in perfect agreement here. Much as I like Gore, I still seethe with anger every time I remember what a completely lame candidate he was. That election shouldn't have even been close.

Well she does have 5 kids...
I'm consitently stupid- Japher I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned
Quebec is not part of Canada and Stephane Dion's grandiose wealth redistribution scheme is DOA.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee who revealed Monday that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, earlier this year used her line-item veto to slash funding for a state program benefiting teen mothers in need of a place to live.
