Kuciwalker is correct that the PRC's authority over Taiwan is not officially recognized by the international community, but that is just splitting hairs as the international community does recognize that Taiwan is part of one China and the PRC is the internationally recognized government of China. The PRC's authority over Taiwan is implied, if not overtly recognized.Georgia has exercised as much authority there as China on Taiwan.
