  • What? Taiwan is not internationally recognized as under the authority of the PRC.

    • Read up on the Mkhedrioni. They're an armed Georgian nationalist group whose motto is "Georgia for the Georgians. At the time of Georgian independence they were more numerous than the Georgian National Guard. They carry a major part of the blame for the ethnic hostilities that marred Georgia's independence.

Georgia has exercised as much authority there as China on Taiwan. Georgia just represents Ossetia in the UN as PRC represents its renegade province Taiwan. I am sure my Chinese friend agrees.

I generally agree. Kuciwalker is correct that the PRC's authority over Taiwan is not officially recognized by the international community, but that is just splitting hairs as the international community does recognize that Taiwan is part of one China and the PRC is the internationally recognized government of China. The PRC's authority over Taiwan is implied, if not overtly recognized.

Not hardly. And Taiwan would have a seat at the UN if China did not continually block it and bully anyone else that supported it.

It would be helpful if you had read back through the last few pages and understood what I was saying here. Of course your statement is accurate...it also has little to do with what I was discussing and the reasons for using the comparisons that I did.

Actually Taiwan DID have a seat at the UN, but the UN voted with a clear majority to give it to the PRC.
