    • I have to admit, American media is very shrewd. They will show an all-out bias, when they think it will be a ratings hit. It's amazing how they show Saakashvilli for fifteen minutes pleading for the sake of democracy, when even the CNN correspondent in Moscow barely has a voice, not mentioning Russian representatives themselves.

        • In all fairness, why would they ease Georgia's life as long as Georgia is hostile towards them?
1.) Georgia isn't hostile as they are abiding by the ceasefire, even if they wanted to the state of their army prevents it.

2.) Even if hostile, letting irregulars (illegal) loot and murder is a warcrime.

          • If you can find blogs where journalists post their observations privately, those usually are somewhat more objective. Otherwise, journalists cover what the network wants. Showing how a small country is getting attacked and thrashed will always get more viewers than calm officials explaining their reason for intervention.

What a joke. Like Georgia would attack anything after how the last round faired.

That's the unfortunate circumstance of mass media being run by large corporations, who exist only on the basis of their quarterly profit margins.

News media should only be run by co-op journalists and publicly-funded.

There's a difference between military and political hostility. Georgia is politically hostile toward Russia. As are the United States. If you don't like the word "hostile", just replace it with "unfriendly".

As long as you have control over them, yes. But there has just been a war, with all disorder that comes with it.

WTF does that have to do with anything? I suggest you look up the meaning of the term ceasefire and see if it has to do with the feelings the combatants have for one another.

No, looting and pillaging or whatever are always a warcrime regardless. And Russia has every ability to control the irregulars who marched in with their own damn columns if they wanted, SO is hardly in any position to disobey the orders of their masters.

                        • If Georgia could have managed to pull it off, and take over South Ossetia and Abkhazia WITHOUT Russian intervention, they should have earned all the gold medals in the Olympics, but idiot Saakashvili went all or nothing, and the risk didn't pay off.
