Back when I was playing Civ2 demogames, I went through a period of trying to communicate exclusively through only smilies -- at least as much as possible. The hieroglyphics vibe was the source of the "Electronic Egyptians" reference in my location field. It's amazing how much you can say with the very limited palette available here.
