Arguing with a Russian nationalist is like arguing with a jet engine. It's big, noisy, and if you get sucked in, you won't come out alive.

But at least the jet engine serves a useful purpose.

That applies to all the nationalists, not only Russians.

          China.

Its common wisdome that Kosovo will in a decade or two merge with Albania. The Chinese will probably do the same with Siberia. If Russia tries to stop them the PCR declares war.

The stronger Russia's military the longer they get to keep Siberia. Since China will avoid this scenario and as it develops until it feels it can bully Russia without fighting.

And why would they do that, when they've nationally and culturally been separated for centuries?

Are you referring to Kosovo or Siberia?

Well even if you don't know anything about the situation, think about this:

Illegal Chinese migration over border + Russian demographic implosion + a native "Chinese minority" + historical ties and claims of Imperial China to large chunks of now Russian territory = A independent Chinese Siberia

Siberia. And the chinarusskies won't fight teh chinarusskies just 'cuz some of their people moved across the border. If that was the case they's invade every nation that touched the Indian ocean.

In my experience, it applies mostly to Russians.

Siberia is extraordinarily rich in minerals, containing ores of almost all economically valuable metals—largely because of the absence of Quaternary glaciation outside highland areas. It has some of the world's largest deposits of nickel, gold, lead, coal, molybdenum, diamonds, silver and zinc, as well as extensive unexploited resources of oil and natural gas.

Right. And Russia, the one with all the nukes, is going to let that go w/o a fight? I don't think so.

There's no way the Chinese are that dumb. Not when they have a better chance of economically leveraging Russia out of it's own resources.

Well if what you USAians are working on actually works, then nukes cease to be an issue.

Also, they aren't going to invade. There will be a referendum on granting Siberia "independence", and the majority Chinese population will vote in favour. Russia will sulk, like Serbia is currently, possibly even retaliate, but they wouldn't use nukes on "their " land. A few states recognize "Siberia" a decade or two later, Siberia unifies with China.
