It's kind of hard to articulate what the iphone is like to use. It's simply brilliant of course, but the best thing for you to do is go to an Apple shop and try one out. If you don't adore it after that, I'll eat my own hair.

You're talking to Poly losers here, WB. Reason and evidence are irrelevant.

How much money do you have where you can just afford to buy anything you simply "adore"?

I can imagine you talking on your iPhone while driving your Porsche 911, eh?

No one who just wants a simple cell phone needs an iPhone or Samsung Instinct or Blackberry. Though I realize you are a Mac fanboi, it seems the costs of a smartphone drove Dolores to reconsider.

You don't get it, do you?

It isn't primarily a phone. It's a portable computing platform that happens to have a phone in it. Apple will even sell you one without a phone if you like (I own one – it is called the iPod Touch). It's a convergence device. People who want one are people who need to do more than just use the phone.

Neither the Instinct or the Blackberry are in the same class as the iPhone. Blackberries are mainly portable email devices. They suck at web browsing and the other stuff. The Instinct is a joke (it doesn't even have wi fi).

Are you serious? Does it leverage teh synergies of a v-next technology paradigm too?

                    Nice. Teh "X doesn't have Y" argument

How can anyone hype a "portable computing platform" without a keyboard? Or without 3G? And when it does get HSDPA, it's still less than twice as fast as teh Instinct's rev A. But hey, it has wifi, which nobody ever uses

Unfortunately it is. This is what happens when you become an Apple fanboi.

People who want one like it because it looks pretty, NOT because the "portable computing platform" bull. I mean, really, who the Hell needs a web browser at all possible times?

Apple is always behind the times and selling yesterday's technology. Fortunately, they will always have dupes willing to pay top dollar for shiny old stuff just because it has the right brand name on it.

Reason and evidence do not mesh well with the Mac faithful who are affected by the Reality Distortion Field.

If you listen to Agathon, you'd think the iPhone is the #1 cell phone. It isn't even the #1 smartphone.

Frankly, the people who buy it lack any reasoning ability. Look at the prices Rogers (in Canada) charges for the thing. Outrageous is an understatement.

Apple, and its partner carriers, are raping people with a Stupid Tax and Agathon is happy that he's loose enough by now not to notice or care.

Yep, you guys are super daft. The fact that you believe in this weird consumer brainwashing stuff is baffling. The world doesn't really work like that. But carry on...

This has to be intentional self-parody. Right?
