My collection is small -- I only have about 265 songs so I have very few albums at the present.

I did not get into music at all until about four years ago.

Sticking to genres rather than artists, what I own most of is Delta Blues, 80's Indie, Electronica and Industrial/Neofolk. However I've got wildly eclectic tastes- over the last few days I've been listening to Qawwali, Bhagra, Bulgarian choral folk, Noise, Trip-hop and Futurepop.

iTunes counts 11731 songs, and that doesn't include Classical, which is on my other machine.

I like all sorts of stuff, except alternative pop music trying to be intellectually pretentious (give it up guys, if you want serious music, you aren't going to be listening to pop).

Lots of CD's at home, though. Lots of "world music".

Even a fair number of CASSETTES.

50ish records, though they have been copied onto CD's.

laz is right in that you should stick to genres rather than artists. find a sound you like and explore it until you get bored, then move on to something else.

i've got several hundred CDs, all sorts of stuff and about 3 weeks worth of music on the PC, which is pretty much all electronic (trance, techno, house, drum 'n' bass, electro, rave, dubstep - probably in that order).
