It is TOTALLY AMAZING that someone who claims victory in the debate continues to come up with excuses not to debate the issue.

Let's just assume (even though I don't agree with it) that the Aussie stats were wrong. You still fail to answer any other argument. Instead you use the oldest and tiredest defense in the world:

"I havn't got time to debate you"

This coming from one of the most frequent posters.

You tried proving your point by sending me to a website that said my stats were right but might be misleading.

Then you tried proving your point thru name calling and obscenity.

Then you tried proving your point by saying because you proved your point on one issue, which you didn't, that you didn't have to argue any other issue.

Then you went back to calling names and bringing up ridiculous situations and claiming I live somewhere where I don't.

Somewhere in there, actually quite a few time you said you proved your point because you said you did.

Now you say you don't have time to prove your point because you are on vacation, yet you have time to post.

I'm not sure what you want here. You quote bull**** statistics then ignore the rebuttal which not only makes perfect logical sense, but provides statistical evidence to the contrary. Then you wonder why people lack the patience to post with you.

I'm not a patient man. I will not teach calculus to "special" students, nor will I debate while on vacation with brick walls, or their human equivalents.

Sloww, you know me. I post here somewhat infrequently. I didn't get into pissing matches. Asher posted the other day about an issue in Canada and after reading his posts I listened and thought he made a good point. I don't argue just to argue or because of personality. I am not here to win a popularity contest or "settle an old score". I call them as I see them. And that is one reason why Asher's response to me has surprised me on 3 levels:

1) Its childish
2) Its an attempt to "win" no matter
3) He has no rational response to the argument given him so he resorts to name calling and obsceneties.

I have to watch myself because I feel like I am beginning to fall into the hell of apoly posters that I usually only read and laugh at. This time, however, someone was just pissing instead of listening and I got drawn in. I thought it might be a logicalk argument but like a 2 year old, a tantrum was thrown everytime he was disagreed with and he refused to face reality.

In his last post he again claimed to prove my stats wrong but has yet to prove them wrong or even address 95% of the issues I brought up. In fact his own website said that my stats were correct but might be misleading. I certainly wouldn't recomend him as a defense attorney.

He is like a child caught stealing candy with his hand in the candy jar and then says he didn't do it. He thinks if he repeats it enough it will become true.

I laid out stats - the best he could do was take one of about 15 stats, point me to a website that said my stats were accurate but might be misleading. Then he used that to claim that everything I said was BS.

I still await his response to the other, and more relevant, stats that I posted. I don't want to keep listing them but Asher's startegy seems to keep bull****ting until they get off the current page and then claim victory.

So if he persists on claiming he somehow won this debate I will wait for the next page to come up and again repost the stats and keep posting more and more damning statistics.

I can predict the response:

Talk about Australia, throw out a few obscenities and call people some names. Then claim he is too busy to debate the issue when all he does is debate the issue. Then of course claim victory without addressing any of the points.

Well Sloww you are right, I changed my mind. I won't drop to Asher's level. Somehow I guess he will feel that he won this debate, but I am not going to see if I can win a pissing match with someone who couldn't win a kindergarten debate.

Anyone interested, look at page 7 of this thread for stats Asher refuses to answer. Please ignore Asher's obsceneties and name calling (people without a good argument or handle on the language always devolve to the lowest form of expression). And thanks again Sloww for showing me how stupid it is to argue with a 2 year old.

You laid out stats that I've demonstrated to be misleading and not viable to construct an argument around. You've constructed an argument around it. And you wonder why no one is bothering to argue with you about it any more.

You still refuse to address the vast majority of my stats and you continue to use the same argument:

"I'm right because I said was right. I'll call you names in an attempt to distract from the subject. I'll also imply you were wrong without giving any evidence."

I am seriously done. But if I were you and wanted to save a little face I might try and find some stats that at least tried to prove your point of view. The best you have done so far is find a website that said my stats on 1 of over 15 issues were right but could be misleading. Then you failed to address every other stat.

I addressed all relevant stats.

Stats from the US are pointless since no district has ever banned handguns remotely effectively.

Stats from Australia are invalid and have been proven to be invalid.

Stats comparing crime rates to countries like Canada has been debunked as well. The violent crime rates are massively higher in the US than Canada, period.

I've addressed all of your stats, mostly in large swaths, because there's no point in individually knocking down individual stats that are obviously irrelevant to the debate on their face.

B: I provide a stat that proves it wrong
C: You respond

Then after that we could have a logical discussion if we still disagree. No name-calling, no needless obsceneties. Just a debate of the issue.
