Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

A friend of mine can't eat gluten since she was a baby...
Generally it kicks in around the early 20s. Mine has probably been affecting me for quite a few years; I never was the most observant person. I am now on a life-long gluten-free diet. My daughter, on the other hand, can currently eat gluten-containing foods without problem.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).
When stationed in Deutchland in mid to late 70's (also a fellow friend and great guy Apolyton's own Wittlich was also stationed in Deutchland) I trained and was selected to participate in the Nijmegen March
The Nijmegen March (pronounced nigh-may-gun) originated in 1909 with Dutch military efforts to increase the long distance marching and weight-carrying ability of infantry soldiers, and eventually evolved into a prestigious international annual competition. Some more facts about the Nijmegen March: The four day march (in dutch 'Vierdaagse; or '4-daagse') is held annually and centered around Holland's oldest town, Nijmegen.
They comprise four consecutive days of marathon marching, each day 30 miles in length.
The town is given over to a huge festival before, during and after the event, which is the largest in a series of international marches.
The event is approaching its 100th anniversary; the only breaks have been for the two world wars.
It attracts over 40,000 entrants and a similar number of visitors and spectators.
Routes pass through many towns and villages, which are given over to a street party atmosphere. Thousands of spectators turn up to watch the 'river' of walkers go by.
Individuals, civilian groups, police/emergency services, military and cadet teams all participate from all over the world.
Walking sounds deceptively easy - to walk 30 miles, four times over is far more challenging than you may realize. Much training and personal determination is required to complete the distance.
The teams marches in uniform, representing services and our nations.
Teams train, travel, and take part entirely on their own time and at their own expense.
But with 3 weeks remaining, I broke my left ankle, playing basketball, and was casted and did not participate.

GP, oh man that sucks. Breaking an ankle that is. I broke mine in the army as well and it sucked because I was also looking forward this sort of legendary march. It's one of them marches people talk about later on as well and I didn't get to go It was 20km, in combat gear, as fast as you can go in teams of 5. Meaning you run that bastard as fast as you can. It was really tough that way, so people were twitching and everythign when they crossed the finish line and I was there to serve water
That was mostly humiliating. YOu want to know my most humiliating story though? I always did my tasks well, always. Even when most wouldn't like keep their closet in order, I always had it in order. Well, in there, you were supposed to fold the blanket and stuff in certain ways before you go to sleep and so forth, so the ONE night I didn't do that was before graduation. That was the ONLY tiem I didn't do it becuase I got back drunk, totally hammered and just threw the blanket on the chair and went sleeping. That was the night when staff came in to check up on everything and saw the blanket. Guess who got to serve coffee in their own damn graudation? ME! I was a freaking... it was my graduation, and I was serving coffee in there. DUde, that was humiliating
When I graduated from high school, I got hammered in my own graduation party at home. I didn't even drink that much, but it was one of them surprises, where you just 'whoops'. So I passed out, as I was taking my suit off to go partying with everyone. So I also missed THAT graduation party as well. I've basically missed all my graduation parties due to being drunk And I don't even drink often. Damn it!
In da butt.

Seems like a harsh treatment for a broken ankle
