    An actor
Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

I have this same problem about Cairo, Illinois. Imagine my dismay when I discovered that those damn Egyptians had stolen our name!

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

No, it was part of a province called Romeli or something like that under the Ottomans.

I'm not Greek, but I think they are pissed that the Slavic Macedonians claim their ancestors were part of Macedonia 3000 years ago.

I wont pretend that I understand what has the Greeks all worked up about this, but I'll say this:

                  FYROM = pissant nation
Greece = NATO ally and EU partner - e.g. a real country.

                  Survival of the fittest

My country's southern neighbor is named after one of our provinces...

Curse you Mexico! Why must you copy us? We already have a perfectly good, Brand-Spanking New Mexico!

And curse you Mexico, for making a Baja-flavored California! Taco Bell should sue for copyright infringement -- they're the only ones legally allowed to use that Baja sauce.

As far as I know they don't. This is the best I could come up with trying to support your position. But I'm afraid this isn't propaganda, its from wikipedia.

700AD, it appears most of Macedonia is inhabited by Slavs

not "part" but the whole! the president today characterized his people as one of the corner stones for the european civilization...

further to the claims on ancient history, they claim that Greece has and is today suppressing a fyromian minority...

i tend to believe that this a totally different case with Luxembourg and Memphis...

There are a variety of other names they could call themselves:

                              Vardaria
                              Dardania
                              Moesia
                              Rumelia
                              Mexidonia

I guess the FYROMites just think Macedonia sounds cooler.
