According to Mr Computer Repairman (MCR), recently returned from Cebu, it may be the CPU. That stands for erm, central processing unit? Is that the chip?

Are those spendy?


MCR wants to take it out of the house to a place where MCR's fix CPU problems.

Advice?

The thing has seen a few moons, maybe 6 years oldish, and I can have a decent comp built for less than $900 when we get there. However that means no more pics.


So what does a CPU cost?

Thoughts? CPUs, like the rest of the known universe, are out of my area of expertise so I'm really looking for some insights here.

A CPU shouldn't be very expensive if the computer is 6 years old. That is, if they can find a CPU that works with it.

6 years ago I had an AMD 2200+. A quick Google search shows $40 at Buy.com. Probably could get one for $20 or less on Ebay.

That's not too bad. It was a cheapo HP out of Fred Meyers so the CPU might not be too hard to replace. Maybe I'll let MCR take it.

It was the on/off switch, and it's fixed! HaHa!

Let me guess, he fixed it by moving the switch from the 'off' position to the 'on'?

Thebs, you should know by now that I don't ask sensitive questions like that. Another sensitive question might be, since it's fixed, where's the pics? But I have more sense than to go there.

Instead I've embarked on an in depth observation of my naval over time to deduce possible epoch related changes, but nothing yet to report. So, as you can see I'm quite busy...and if you don't mind, science waits for no man.

Please post pics here instead of sending them by email, thank you. Also, can you look at the other properties in Garcia and get a few pics of where the water hits them? I'm particularly interested in any new erosion that might have happened in the big storm.

Erosion means damage to the land caused by the ocean.
