It's no GTA, but it's not bad either.

It's called an opinion Imran. Poly OT is built on them.I'm glad to hear my thoughts carry so much sway here as to allow me to be a "sole arbiter" to decide things for "the world".
The real problem is the arrogant attitude you displayed for everything that is not your personal opinion.
You disregard every measure of proof that can disprove your opinion, including popularity, critical acclaim and written essays by other people.
If you go around saying "That's my opinion and I don't care what anyone else thinks lalalalala" then don't be surprised when people call you out on being arrogant. This is especially silly if you are arrogant about a field in which you know little about.
if you think you were merely 'stating an opinion', just look at your posts:
Cultural excrement often sells well (look at the Idol phenomena). What's your point?
Why this trust in the critics Imran? If your culture is in the toilet how do you expect those swirling around the rim to give you a true perspective?I can see redeeming features of the Civ series. Not so with GTA.You develop standards as you get older. Some day (if you are lucky) you will understand. Please, tell me what to think oh wise critic."

GTA IV Diary, Day 4: Freedom of Choice
I promised in the first entry of this diary that I would eventually get around to discussing the depths of Grand Theft Auto IV's infamous depravity, and here we are.
To cut to the chase, the 20 hours I have spent exploring Liberty City seem to indicate that the most naughty shenanigans into which one can get are not part of the story proper, but instead must be sought out by the player.
The shootouts and car chases that make up the majority of story missions are roughly on par with the sort of action seen in movies like Goodfellas and The French Connection. They are exciting, occasionally shocking, and always entertaining. Each incident serves narrative purpose and helps drive forward GTA IV's compelling rise-of-an-immigrant-gangster tale.
In order to see the sort of wantonly immoral spectacles called out by the game's critics—such as the shocking and notorious "Ladies of Liberty City" video circulating online that strings together a collection of utterly misogynistic user-created scenes from the game—you need to have a mind to produce them yourself. The game won't do it for you.
Of course, there's the question of whether a game ought to allow players to perform such reprehensible activities in the first place. Developers have the right to include this sort of content, but is it moral of them to exercise it?
First off, I have to say that I don't buy the argument that states violent video games lead to real world violence. Violent acts require a decision on behalf of the perpetrator, and it seems to me that anyone who makes a decision based on what they see in a video game cannot be entirely stable to begin with.
Children may be more apt to copy what they see in games, but this game isn't for children. Responsible parents keep their kids from watching 18A-rated films, and so too should they ensure that their children aren't playing M-rated games.
Of course, part of me wonders why a game maker would want to provide anyone, even mature, responsible adults, the ability to, say, walk into a virtual strip club and open fire on all of its occupants.
The answer, of course, is that this game is, above all, a study in freedom of choice. And knowing that one has the ability to do anything one puts one's mind to (and electing not to do things that go against one's moral fibre) is what freedom is all about.
This, if nothing else, is what elevates Grand Theft Auto IV from a mere game to an interactive work of art. And like any properly provocative work of art, experiencing it may just end up teaching us a little something about ourselves."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Probably not. At best, maybe 6 months. But nothing has been said on the subject at all.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Asher - Thanx for continuing to post the series. I find it informative.
Unfortunately, when the reviewer arrived at the issue I mentioned he jumped past it with virtually no analysis. This is of course why I objected to a game reviewer being the one we should go to for this analysis in the first place...

Most kids under 18 that want a copy of this game will get one despite the rating put on the cover."I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow

I don't really see the point of trying to keep this out of the hands of children. Maybe I grew up in a different time, but I was able to see all sorts of violent movies when I was just a little kid, and I had discovered porn, if my parents knew or not, by the time I was 12. Sure, don't let kids that are still going to Kindergarten get this game, but otherwise, I don't see the point.Resident Filipina Lady Boy Expert.
