Boise is a Rocky Mountain, rural "city" with virtually no metropolitan area (unless you count farms). Just about everything you can find within 200 miles of Boise are rural farming communities.Originally posted by Asher

Portland on the other hand is a west coast city with a decent sized metro area. Tacoma is a much better comparison in regards to size and region.Comment

It's silly to argue you'll get lower prices when you force all participants in the market to operate along the lines of the least of efficient ones.

As for why Boise is cheaper, it seems to have more to do with the region than anything else. Mountain states generally have lower gas prices than West Coast states.Comment
