It sems like that Penderyn isn't that easy to get here, but I'll look for it.

About paint strippers, welll, I guess that Johnnie Walker red label fits nicely into that category. It's smirnoff alll over - lots of ad but no quality.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

A lot of consensus here. I'll second what everyone else says about Laphroaig - great stuff.

On the other hand, I've always preferred Bushmill's to Jameson's

Yeh, me too. Often in the UK a place will only have Jamesons if they have an Irish whiskey.

I'm not a whiskey person myself and I knew that Johnny Walker was cheap and crap stuff. I'm quite surprised that a whiskey connaisseur wouldn't know.

To be fair to Asher, he said that was in the past. I don't know why he's getting stick for it.

And Johnny Black is decent. Johnny Red is low-rent, but it mixes well and isn't any worse than J&B, Dewar's, or Black and White. It's a fine starter scotch if you haven't got a lot of drinking cash. As a poor graduate student, it's what I had in the house when I couldn't find Teachers or Black and White.

Another high-end blend that hasn't been mentioned is Pinch, which is also marketed as Dimple. That's my wife's favorite, and it's mighty fine.

Of course it is. All scotch is whiskey (or whisky; I can never remember which ones keep the "e" and which ones lose it).

He's trying to make me cry.

I'm also trying to find out who he's calling a whiskey connaisseur.

I believe it depends on origin. To Americans it's whiskey, to Brits/Scots/Irishmen it's whisky. That's what I heard.

The Scottish can't spell but the Irish can; so switch the words around.

I thought I very clearly established in the OP that I'm no such thing.

What I can do, Ecthy, is read. Try it sometime.
