If there had ever been a younger, open-minded him they 'd hate the 30-year old, hippie-hating him.

You're becoming a bitter old man Andreas And why aren't you on ICQ?

Interesting, I didn't have Ecthy down as a shill for hippies.

Actually, to be fair, the 20 year old me would probably be f**king relieved that I've finally escaped the shackles of a career in science, all of a sudden I remember the 20 year old me wanted to go into IT and wanted to stay the hell away from science, but I somehow got sidetracked. So he would probably buy me a pint, if he could afford it

I still spend too much on food. I have cut alcohol almost completely out, and have cut entertainment/toys way down. I have been resisting buying a new computer or a Xbox360 for a while. Considering how little I make, and how much rent is (and that I give to charities), I have been roughly within my means for the last two years.

Dirt poor, considering what I do, it's almost slavery

But I don't care. I definitely need more money, to get by better. I can't afford to buy all what I consider necessary, like I need more clothes and some decoration for my place, for cheap, but I can't afford anything really except food and couple of hundred extra per month.

Other than that? I really don't care. I can't take it with me anyway, so I'd rather live doing other things than chasing a pipe dream

I thought your career was flying, Pekka. Or is that coming down the pipe?

Computers, games, new electronics, paintball guns, electric piano, etc is what I have bought in the past but not (often) needed.

I'm not rich. I'm payed enough to not need to worry about how to pay my beers but too little to think about buying a place to live.

CH, it's flying, but it pays like ass. I mean not really, because ass pays. It's a great job, it just pays horribly little right now. It'll get better though. Hey, I'm a researcher. What do you think we make? We make pennies. I'm also just a starting one, so yeah, I don't make any money. But I get free stuff. Well, educational stuff. But still, free YAaay the benefits!!! HUUUUGE! NEed a book? Can do! Need to enroll this expensive thingie? Can do! Need anything else? Too bad, you're on your own.

CH, maybe his cool ideas about computer security didn't work out all so well after all

Jon - I remember you also used to eat out a lot - still doing that?
