No, unlikely that it is FUD. But it would be FUD with impeccable timing, if true.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I hope that if, at some point in your toolish existence you have an original thought that might make you some money, it is mercilessly ripped off by dozens of coward internet thieves who then giggle about how cool it is that they can steal without getting a foot in their ass. Losers

        Brilliant solution.
2 hour movie at 10MBit/sec is 9 GB, isn't it? Or are you simplifying and saying 10MBit/sec is acceptable bitrate but still much less than BR?

          The latter.

I'm still planning on skipping Blu-Ray, and waiting for streamed/downloaded HD content.

So today's the day Toshiba throws in the towel. (today in Japan anyway)

Good times. don't regret my a3 purchase at all.

                  I highly recommend the panasonic bd30 as a profile 1.1 blu-ray player.

If there is any god, blu-ray will be the last mainstream optical disc medium. everything is switching to wireless thanks primarily to the iTunes store.

And asher, I bet you are drowning in your tears..you predicted PS3 would not have a hard drive, that HD DVD would triumph because of technobabble problems with blu ray..Where is your crap now, probably in your mouth..with your shoe and foot.

asher said he was wrong and blu-ray won in a different thread...

The internet can not take the traffic it would take to download a lot out of it. Stuff like flash-drives can not hold anything to blu-ray (and hd-dvd).

Flash drives able to hold blu-ray capacity (25GB) exist now, actually:
We’re sorry, but this page does not existing. Please visit our home page for more information.

I'm not sure if the internet today could handle traffic like that, but there's no theoretical reason why it couldn't in the not very distant future.

                              $400 million...

Impressive, especially for a studio that was thought to be on its last legs.
