Geronimo posted its instead of its. Kuci complained. I'm commenting on how important apostrophes are. Unfortunately some people don't understand the reference (Matric Reloaded, Merovingian, "It's like wiping your arse with silk"). However I keep on using semicolons instead of apostrophes because I never learnt to touch type.

1. Teach yourself. I personally know how to touch type with 95%+ accuracy on two entirely different keyboard layouts, and both I basically taught myself (the first, qwerty, was while needing to write a paper during lunch for 5th period english in 10th grade... god was I lazy back then). It's not hard to learn, if it takes you >2 hours to get the basics down you are a slow learner.

2. Apostrophes are perfectly important... overused perhaps, but so are commas, and most other, grammatical tools.

I can almost touch type but I have to keep on looking at the keyboard normally to keep on making sure that my fingers are in the right way. I don't have to look at the screen to know when I make a mistake, I know that intuitively.

Though to be honest I still always screw up on the semicolons. No idea why, it is my most common mistake and has been for the past 3 years or so, atleast from mid-2004

If you have to look at the keyboard, you can't touch type. Doesn't your keyboard have little dots on F and J (or D and K if it's an old mac, not sure about new ones) to center your fingers? (For that matter, I don't errantly place my fingers even if I don't have bumps on the letters... the position of the shift keys tells me where to go. Only on an odd-sized keyboard is it a problem.)

And I do use several diferent keyboards (one at home at uni, one at my parents, and a couple of different ones at uni, which for some reason uses several different makes and doesn't bulk buy.)
