The superstition that often amuses me is the one where office buildings don't have a 13th floor. Or, more accurately, they number things such that no floor is *numbered* 13. Of course, that just means that the 14th floor is the 13th (or perhaps the maintanence level inbetween the 12th and 14th floors is the unlucky place, and the workers therein are screwed! aahhh!).

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

If this was the nuttiest thing that religious types did, the world would be a better place.

This one is actually quite sane in my opinion.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Did you even read the article you posted? Or did you just read that "good Christian" bit and feel overcome by your urge to rub your perky infidel sausage online? One of the people quoted specifically said that it's just an image thing. If LOTM said he did not want live in a neighborhood with a street layout like a swastika because he's a Jew, which of the following would you infer:

                  A. That he didn't like being associated with the symbol of people who once tried to exterminate his race, or
                  B. That he feared the symbol would cause Hitler's ghost to haunt his family unless he sealed all the doors of his house with matzoh balls blessed by a rabbi each night?

Why? So long as you drop the spurious charges of superstition, I don't care how silly you think it is.

I think the fact that everyone seems to know '666' is supposed to the mark of the Beast (even if its wrong or whatever), speaks to it being an image thing.

Since you keep reverting to the historical reality of the holocaust as your analogy for the myth/superstition of the 666 issue your argument is rather weak.
