It's tough, but you can do it.
Don't know what you're talking about. (1) I'm not an athiest, and (2) I'm just speading the Good News about what Biblical scholarship -- most of it conducted by Christians -- says about Luke.
But, as an erstwhile Iowan, I would never want to be perceived as raining on Mr. Fun's parade. Party on, Mr. Fun!

Wasn't in DM or someone who said that her theology professor said that atheists make the best theologians?
Theologians are often very different in viewpoints/etc from the majority of beleivers (both those who study seriously and those who don't).

I think it would be hard to be a theologian and not have a different point-of-view from most believers, in the same way that most experts have different point-of-view from laymen on their subjects of expertise. But most theologians I've met, and most I read, are believers nevertheless.

but it is still very different... sort of a historical critical method
There are theologicans that dont' follow it
but the 'usual' theologian is looking for stuff to interpret differently, is looking to disagree with biblical authors (many of them disagree with Paul, which means that they disagree with the Christianity of 98+% of the Christian population beleives and has beleived for ~2000 years)
