  • The OFFICIAL U.S. presidential predictions thread(with prizes!)

We can check back on this after the primaries are all over and after the actual election.

I got an absolutely enormous and entirely unjustifiable traffic ticket several months ago and I finally got it completely dismissed, 10 minutes ago. I could not be more thrilled, little Channuka miracle there so I am sharing the love with a holiday gift.

The winner of the thread will get a prize of some sort, probably via paypal or something like that, only one prize will be given by me, unless anyone else wants to jump on the bandwagon.

    Format:

If multiple people get question 1 right, we go to question 2 and so on, till all the questions thus far are only answered correctly by one person, who wins the prize.

    1. Post your predictions for the winner of the democratic nomination.

    2. Post your prediction for the winner of the republican nomination.

    3. Post your prediction for the winner of the 2008 U.S. presidential election.

    4. Post your prediction for the difference in the popular vote between the Republican and Democratic candidates. If X gets 48% and Y gets 45%, then the difference is 3%. We will round to the first decimal place, so if it was 48.1% and 45%, then the difference is 3.1%

    5. Post your prediction for the third party candidate is who wins the most votes.

    6. Post your prediction for the % of the popular vote the highest ranked third party candidate receives, again, rounded to the first decimal.

You do not need the spell the candidates names correctly to win, but it is encouraged.

Here is a list of most of the big names from both parties.

Any edits or posts made after the Iowa primary(January 3rd) will not be eligible for the prize, though you are still welcome to post your prediction.

    Predict away.

Please stop stalking my threads and posting pointless and negative comments as the first response, every time.

      1. Hillary.

      2. Giuliani

      3. Hillary

      4. 4.0%

      5. Ron Paul

      6. 5%

I think Giuliani will win the Republican nomination by a fairly hefty margin.

I would bet money Ron Paul will run as an independent after he loses the nomination.

He may even gain a hefty portion of the vote, I base the 5% on absolutely nothing but a gut feeling.

The thread is fine, the title is fine. The problem here is you are both trolls.

This thread is fine, nor am I a troll.

I encourage others to post your predictions. Lets see how accurate Apolyton was in 2008.

I take issue with the fact that this is the OFFICIAL thread -- who designated it as such?

Official insofar as I promise to divy up the prize? I could not say, if it offends the mods, edit it to unofficial? To my knowledge there was never any official prediction thread for any presidential election in the U.S. on apolyton, so this is the first.

There's no forum rule regarding such, but most forums have a rule barring "OFFICIAL" threads that aren't official. However, this is Apolyton, so we are as official as we want to be I think...

I think it is guaranteed Ron Paul will run as an independant, it seems like his sort of personality. It is a shame he has no real chance.

The pickings are so awful for 2008, that if I had to choose from them, I'd pick him for our president.
