The insinuation is that Barrack has been outblacked by a white boy, and that the black people would be better served by whitie.
You are reading FAAAAR too much into it. Many blacks consider Bill Clinton to be "America's first black President". That statement wasn't a joke when applied to him originally and it wasn't now. And it wasn't a put down on Barrack for not being black... it was a reminder that the Clintons have been huge friends of black people.

Black people might be better served by a white candidate than a black one? Outrageous. Where have they been the last three decades? Dont they know that identity trumps policy?

I care!
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I'm not very interested in all this stuff unrelated to Huckabee, and discount most of it is just a smear job coming out of the campaigns. Some of it is political horserace stuff which also isn't interesting to me today.
I started the thread to get better info than that presented by the campaigns. Maybe nobody here knows anything about Huckabee independent of the campaigns and are just spewing nonsense to watch themselves type.

Hey DanS, I'm surprised Ramo did not call you lazy for not Googling Huckabee, instead of asking others here about him.
As if I cared what Ramo thinks or says when it's not on-point for the thread.

Well our Ark. poster seems to have left us Dan, so all we know comes from the lens of the campaign.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio
OK, back to the topic of this thread, it seems unfair to hoist all of the inconsistencies of the conservative christian/evangelical/Mormon conservative/RC conservative loose coalition on Huckabee's shoulders.

Well he is the one attacking Romney for his Mormonism.

Maybe Polytubbies in neighboring states or in DC have stuff to contribute.

I can tell you about Barbour or Musgrove if you prefer but the record of surrounding governors in surrounding states don't really make the news unless they are really bad.

He seems like he is picking and choosing among the parts of the coalition. It is fine to do that, although I question the long-term viability of the strategy. Lots of GOP Mormons out there.

Skillful politicians tend to be heard in other places besides their home areas. That's how I came to know about Giuliani in 1991, f.e.
Maybe that is the most relevant indictment of Huckabee. What good he did wasn't very influential.
