Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

I didn't click your link. I presumed it was re - the MIC. If so, this is definitely history.

It is, but the MIC is something very present.
"a community of dreadfull fear and hate"

I'm not American so I never saw this, I thought the idea of a MIC something of a cold war relic. But the hint of fear in his voice combined with recen world events is very interesting.

Eisenhower's warning (and what he predicted) is older than me. Do we have an Ancient History subforum?

I think Heraclitus' point is to how Eisenhower's warning can relate to our current political/military situation within the US.

Eisenhower's warning FYI, Heraclitus, bringing up 'ole Ike's comments regarding the MIC is not exactly uncommon nowadays in the US.

I do agree, and so think that all discussion of democracy, capitalism, religion, security be moved to the history forum.

So, what's the solution? Vote for Ron Paul?

If you want to talk about the subject - fair enough. Can we move past Ike first?

Ehhh, there is a lot that can be blaimed for the current situation (which is hardly what people rant about). I blame incompetant Congressional appropriations oversight for most of it.
