  • Let's say thanks to the U.S. troops in Iraq

It's set up the way it is.
Maybe it should be more all-inclusive, but that's not the point.

I sent one on behalf of my American Legion post. It was drawn by a 13 year old girl from a town not too far away from me.
It's pretty cool, and I think it should be spread around.
Maybe ownership here could send one from ACS.

    FAQ

Q: What is Let's Say Thanks?
A: To honor U.S. military personnel and increase community morale, Xerox Corporation has created Let's Say Thanks, a national program designed to deliver millions of cards to servicemen and women overseas with messages of support from home.

Q: Why is Xerox sponsoring this program?
A: Social responsibility has been ingrained in the Xerox culture since our earliest days as a company. The Let’s Say Thanks program provides one more outlet for the company to deliver value to the community and support the men and women stationed overseas.

Q: Who will my postcard be going to? Can I send a message to a specific person?
A: Postcards sent through LetsSayThanks.com will be delivered to men and women from all military branches deployed on active duty around the globe - including Iraq, Afghanistan and Asia. If you would like to mail a postcard to a relative or personal friend, downloadable files are available of each design for you to send on your own.

Q: How many cards can I send?
A: Please feel free to visit LetsSayThanks.com often and send as many cards as you wish. We only ask that you pick a different design each time, so that the troops receive a variety of cards.

Q: How long will it take for my postcard to reach the troops?
A: Postcards personalized using LetsSayThanks.com will be printed in batches on an ongoing basis, then bundled and sent along with care packages from Give2TheTroops®. Because of the variables in printing and distributing the postcards to various locations around the globe, we cannot give a precise timeframe.

Q: How can I ensure my message will be sent?
A: Due to the tremendous response to this program, we cannot provide individual confirmations. Please be assured that Xerox views each entry as a personal contract, and all messages received through our program will be delivered.

    Q: What is Give2TheTroops?
A: Give2TheTroops® is a non-profit organization formed to support the physical, moral, and spiritual health of America's armed forces in combat zones around the world through the letters and packages prepared and shipped by volunteers. It is incorporated and certified as a non-profit charitable organization. The organization is managed by volunteers who ensure that deployed U.S. military members in all branches of service are supported with letters and care packages.

Q: How are the postcards printed?
A: The postcards are produced using the variable-data printing capabilities of the Xerox iGen3® Digital Production Press.

Q: How can I contribute a postcard design of my own?
A: We appreciate your interest in the program. We are not currently accepting submissions for new artwork.

Q: What type of message can I send?
A: You can choose one of the pre-selected messages that best expresses your sentiment, or you may write a personal message of support to U.S. troops serving overseas.

Please do not include your mail address, e-mail address or any other personal information directly in your message. Please refrain from including support for or comments about other groups, causes or organizations in your message. The Let’s Say Thanks program will not deliver cards with this information to the troops.

Q: Can my address be included for the troops?
A: No. We cannot send personal information to servicemen and women overseas.

Q: Can I send a message to servicemen and women from other nations?
A: At this time, we are only able to send postcards to U.S. servicemen and women. We understand your desire to send support to troops from other nations, and would encourage you to visit the Department of Defense Web sites from a country of interest for more information on similar programs taking place.

Q: Why is there a limit to the length of my message?
A: Since your message is printed on a postcard to be delivered to troops overseas, space is limited to 472 characters.

    Q: Can I host a card drive?
A: At the moment Let’s Say Thanks is focusing on using the Web site instead of local card drives, but there are still a number of ways to get involved. Our partner organization, Give2TheTroops, has a list of items they're looking to include in their care packages; some people have been organizing drives to collect these items.

They go where they're sent and their life is put at risk.
Whether you agree or disagree with being in Iraq, they're there.

the ulterior motives of US politicians cannot take away from the good in removing a tyrant from power. The Kurds are free and if thats all the good that comes from this...welll...there are worse reasons to sacrifice life and limb...

Indeed they are in Iraq but you didn't really answer the question.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but some troops perhaps need to be stationed on the northern border for that to continue:

                            Military build up
The Turkish government is seeking parliamentary approval for a possible cross-border military operation to hunt down Kurdish separatists in Iraq.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is under pressure to act from a Turkish public outraged by rebel attacks that have killed 15 soldiers since Sunday.

Iraq said that the best way to confront the rebels was through a security accord signed with Turkey last month.

The US also warned Turkey against making an incursion into northern Iraq.

It's kinda cute, drawn by a 13-yo and all, but shouldn't the text read "God Bless Iraq"?

The troops aren't really there to help America, are they?
