I don't think Bush scared them into getting nukes. IIRC, they began cheating on the Clinton Treaty before the ink was wet.

The really interesting aspect is whether NK sold nukes to Syria and that this was the target of the mysterious air strike Israel launched into Syria as few weeks ago.

How do you scare them into something they'd been working toward since before you got into office?

All of this is irrelevant as long as Iran ends up with nuclear weapons. If Bush really wants to do the job right, he'll have to send those B-2 bombers for another round.

All we needs is several hundred thousand pissed-off Iranian soldiers pouring across the border into Iraq.

Haha...That would actually be just fine. The US would make mincemeat out of an Iranian military attack.

The terrorist and guerilla warfare it would incite is another matter entirely.....

They were doing Uranium research at the time, which was not prohibitted by the framework.

Oh, of course. A Uranium bomb would be completely different.

While this may be technically correct, this was a clear violation of the intention of the agreement.

How can it be a big victory when Bush has essentially compromised with a regime he labelled as "evil" and "a supporter of terrorism".

People who know anything about this know that NK's nuclear posturing was designed to provoke negotiation.

And hey ho, President Roh is in Pyongyang right now trying to get the Sunshine policy back on track after it was derailed by Bush's silly posturing after 9/11.

Victory through pressure and negotiation is not preferable to bombing them? Agathon! C'mon man...he has always said he wanted to work through non military means on this problem.

Yes, NK's nuclear program was designed for two things...to get concessions and to build a bomb. Looks like it was successful...just as the efforts to dismantle it look like they have a chance for sucess. Win-win? Could be.

Lastly, it was far more than Bush who derailed the sunshine policy and you know it.

                              Much more accurate now.
