"The Vegetarian food tastes like crap"

            Vegetables taste like crap.
            Beans taste like crap.
Nuts, they really taste like crap.
            Mushrooms, OMG, utter crap.
            Fruit, pure crap.
            Bread, tastes like crap.
            Cereal, yep, tastes like crap.

            So an honest question.
Where exactly is this vegan food which tastes like crap? Are you a dog, cat or some other genuine carnivore? Do you really find all those food groups taste horrible?

When I first became Vegan, one of my first thoughts was... "Holy crap! I get to eat a lot more mushrooms and stuff now! YAY!".

To me, this idea of "Vegan food tastes like crap" is pure, simple delusion. A knee-jerk reaction caused by stereotypes of tofurky and other food-abominations.

And besides that, there's no need to go full Vegan for health reasons. Just replace some of that meat and some of that unhealthy stuff, with TASTY wholesome vegan fare. Try new foods, there's never a need for deprivation you can easily become more vegan while simultaneously eating a greater variety.

I personally would rather die with the satisfaction of knowing I lived responsibly, rather than the guilt or regret of knowing I was negligent and careless. What if those 5 or 10 or 20 years, are years that it turns out you'd actually rather LIKE to live after all? Maybe you'd like to see some special kid grow up. Maybe you get a young gold-digger bride who thinks you're one-foot in the grave. Hah, wouldn't that be a funny one. (Did you know that the world is a really fun place for me? It is! )

I also don't see where "Worrying" comes into it. Just do the right thing and get more wholesome food. There's really no great mystery or conspiracy here. Wholemeal bread is better than white bread. Fruit is better than sweets - there are many substitutions like that, why worry? Just do. There's no need to be perfect, it's not idealism, just betterism.

I don't worry about anything, least of all worrying itself. Like with Soy - I did a little research and decided to make it something I was not going to eat lots of. I don't worry about Soy and I don't worry about inadvertently eating Soy since I know the risks of low consumption are low - I would worry if I was consuming a lot of Soy, so I don't do that, and thus there's no worry.

(I would worry bout being in a state of willful ignorance (always potentially dangerous), so that's another thing I don't do - I thus don't need to worry about being in a state of willful ignorance - because I'm not in any).

They don't exist yet. The animals themselves have lifespans of like 6 weeks to a year. The idea that people, even a lot of people becoming Vegan could actually cause some animals to go uneaten (What an unthinkably horrible fate for them!) - is very delusional, it's not like there's big stands of immortal steak trees, the animals are bred at the rate required for demand.
Sure eventually the price of meat would fall and some of the corporate farms may go out of business, but this is NOT something anyone who actually cares about dignity of life would tend to worry about - they are uh, not dignified places.

It is helpful to know that the destruction of nature to produce more meat is still ongoing, so lowering demand for meat lowers the rate of destruction.

And there would be FAR worse things than eventually returning some land to a state of something more like we found it in.

But it does contain sh*t, blood and pus.

(No seriously I'm not a red paint Vegan, it was just an irresistible punchline)

Is this a response to what I wrote? If so, I don't get it.

Except that excess protein in the diet (and most people who consume lots of milk and meat have a LOT of excess protein) and the acidity that causes leaches calcium from bones.

As for taste, anyone who thinks vegetables taste bad is either an incompetent cook, or is not getting fresh vegetables. The things than can be done with eggplant, squash of several varieties, carrots, brocoli...Hmmm, yum.

I myself are not vegan or vegeterian, but my diet is mainly plant based, and I don't eat large amounts of meat with any regularity. this has helped me maintain my weight loss even though my excercise regime fell totally apart. With a new diet I have stayed within 5 lbs of my target weight, and 45 lbs less than when I started.

Unless you are trying to lose weight, or gain lots of muscle, most american diets have way too much protien.
