*shrug* Aaron Douglas and Bamber were at the con and said it and they expressly kept telling disbelieving people that it's not a joke. It's easy to believe when you know what SciFi's decisions have been like the past years - not unreasonable to start raising a stink the moment you hear about it, just to make sure the execs find out just how much people would hate it.

I thought it was a producer decision.

Basically, yes. Creator/producer Ron Moore always knew it was a finite story that was getting close to the end. After S3 he went to SciFi and asked them to guarantee him two more seasons, so that he could wrap up the story properly without having to worry about the show being canceled after S4. When SciFi couldn't give him that guarantee he decided to wrap things up in one season instead. The original intention was to return to a 13-episode format again though, so between Razor and the 20-ep S4 we're getting almost the number of episodes Moore wanted anyway.

Easy to believe, yes, but cons always generate rumours like this. Sometimes they turn out to be true, usually they don't. The actors often don't know much more than the fans and they like gossip as much as anyone. But with BSG at least there are basically 3 sources that have proven to generally provide reliable info: SciFi, the Moores and Olmos. If it's coming from anyone else it's best taken with a grain of salt until it's confirmed (and even with Olmos I'd be somewhat sceptic).

I too rather enjoyed watching The Dresden Files.

Husband got hooked on the Dresden files. Found the website this morning. Viewers are pissed it's not on, been sending petitions to get it back on. What's SciFi's problem. I really liked it.

So now we are stuck with Eureka and Painkiller Jane.

              Sci-Fi just sucks!

Dresden was good, and different, and interesting... and apparently SF cancelled it because it was drawing in women instead of teenage boys (SFC's target demographic).

Apparently getting a new viewer demographic is a bad thing? Ming, does this make any sense to you?

I don't mind so much that seasons are broken up now, but what I think that networks should do is alternate shows of a similar type in the same time spot. For instasnce, for awhile the Sci-Fi channel was airing on the Friday Primetime slots 2 to 3 months of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis alternating with 2 to 3 months of Dr. Who and Battlestar Galactica.

In the good ol' days every September the networks would all start their new shows in a one week period. I think it would be great if all the channels 'agreed' on a quarterly system, so that shows would change on the first week of September, the 'second' shift would start on the first week of December, then the last shows of the first shift would begin the first week of March and the last group of shows of the second shift would begin in June.
Also I think they should repeat their Primetime shows during their 'off-season', so if I missed an episode of BSG in december I could catch it when it came around in a non-primetime spot in march.
What I'm asking for is predictability.

They actually said that? That makes no sense.

According to the forum that's the given reason. It's not entirely ridiculous, it does affect their advertising ... Ming could speak to that I guess ... but it is at minimum irritating.

Perhaps Lifetime could pick it up

It's not man hating enough. It could be picked up by a network if the actors hadn't already moved on.

Probably... though the lead actor said he'd love to do it again if they were picked up
