I'm almost certain that yes, that was the Brooklyn Bridge. I'm looking at a still of the scene and a shot of the bridge. The styling of what's left of the support tower nearest Starbuck is very similar (screenshot is slightly grainy) to the actual bridge.

That'd be the picture I was looking at and the screencap is sharper than what I was looking at. Now I'm convinced.

I hate it how they kept it sort-of uncertain whether it truly really is Earth. They showed us the continents, the Moon, the whole nine yards in Crossroads but this time they kept the planet obscured.

And that ruin in the image isn't even necessarily a bridge, the extruding thing on its left might actually be towards the camera and not actually the bridge part stretching over the water.

There's a lot to find out yet but that was certainly the kind of brass balls I've come to expect from the show.

Couple of issues after that episode:

1. Roslyn is still alive. Prophesy says she dies, so she needs to die.
2. That shiny new Viper needs to have come from someone and Kara's lost 5 months needs to have gone somewhere. Someone has the engineering ability and the medical ability to make both happen.
3. The Colonials didn't send the signal that activated the Final 5 Minus 1. The Cylons didn't do it either. Nor the second time, indicating that a homing beacon for Earth had been activated as well.
4. Speaking of which, where is the final model?
5. Whatever happened happened looong before the Cylons were ever made, let alone nuke-happy.

My theories:

1. Whatever happened could not have killed everyone off. Enough advanced civilization survived that they could partially rebuild, then leave for greener pastures, or at least less radioactive ones. The fleet jumped in Earth orbit, so they haven't had time to check the rest of the Sol system nor nearby star systems for any signs of habitation. I'm gonna guess Mars is inhabited for the sake of maintaining a presence while the rest of the species finds refuge elsewhere.
2. My stepdad jokes that the final model is EVERYBODY, like that assinine Time Magazine putting shiny foil on its cover and making EVERYBODY their Person of the Year.
3. Human-form Cylons had to come from somewhere. The metal Cylons don't go from slaves to bioengineering Human clones in 40 years. I'm going to guess the 13th Tribe made them (not knowing this would turn out badly) in the hopes of restoring peace and unity between the Colonials, their Cylons, and reuniting both with the Earthers.
4. "This has happened before, it will happen again." Judging by the apparent age of the ruins of NYC, I'm gonna guess that the prophesy was fulfilled once the Colonies were destroyed.
5. I've never liked the idea of Humans originating on Kobol. oBSG was full of bs, nBSG has mostly skirted the issue. I'm gonna guess Humans properly originated on Earth, some were plucked in ancient history and transplanted to Kobol by "God/s" or aliens, the 13th Tribe as a lost civilization like Atlantis or similar that returned to Earth, the destruction myth being that of Kobol's destruction losing its details as time went on.
6. D'ana wasn't really fraking with Roslyn. Roslyn IS a Cylon. If Tye can grow old, Roslyn can die.
