It is very easy to say you almost caught someone,
after all you don´t have to prove it, because after all you only "almost" caught him

Kid, ever heard of Karadzic and Mladic? They've been doing pretty well avoiding the authorities for over 10 years now.

Are you saying they are just lying and have no idea where he is?

The better question is - Why do you believe anything your military/government tells you? They are proven liars.

That's a good possibility too. If that's true I don't think AQ can be that big or organized then.

I think a lot of that is lack of political will, don't you?

I don't believe what they tell me, but that leaves me with trying to figure out what the truth is. I think they want to make us think they are trying to catch OBL, but don't really want to catch him because it might ruin their plans.

I believe that, unlike some commies.

                        Definitely a possibility.

As I posted ealeir in this thread, if Bin Laden is dead, neither AQ nor the Bush government might have an interest in admitting it.

He is much more useful as a nightmare or common enemy that can be used to make otherwise unpopular plans more popular in the eyes of the average american (for example it might sound better to say "we have to stay in Iraq to catch Bin Laden" there then to just say "we have to stay in Iraq to help the iraqi government which despite our best effoprts till isn´t able to handle matters for itself")

Why would he want that? If we had captured Osama in December 2001, most of the American Sheeple would have assumed that somehow the threat was gone. They'd think the goodies got that baddie Hollywood supervillain who controlled everything evil in this world, without grasping that he was merely the figurehead of a broad movement which will continue to survive and proliferate long after he's gone. To be honest I'm glad we never got him.
                          Unbelievable!

Certainly. The local sentiment is in favour of them. But then that's the same with Osama, albeit not on the national level.
