Nah... you can see one of them talking to the cops in the video, asking to be taken out of harm's way. And they are too athletic to be protesters. And their behaviour is not normal. Anyone who was an anarchist and wasn't a cop would yell blue murder at their accusers.

And what are the odds that all three guys would be wearing the same boots as the cops?

Let's be fair though.

At the big Iraq demo the Toronto police were exemplary. They made sure everyone knew where they were going and helped a lot of people. I even went up and thanked a few of them after the protest.

The video is pretty damning. It's kind of obvious.

But... it prolly won't be enough of an evidence, and the identities of the "protestors" somehow won't be figured out so they will prolly never exist and that's why this won't go through prosecution. Because it just won't. Even if someone would recognize them and identify the "protestors", it still wouldn't go through prosecution.

It's a problem because these are supposed to be different entities, but everyone knows authorities and officials enjoy a certain level of immunity and it's a shame because it defeats the purpose and screws the citizen which it is supposed to protect.

Actually the video shows quite a bunch of young men (and one woman) wearing masks.

So I wonder how the 3 outsiders were really discovered.

They be your regular anarchist hoodlums who seek out demonstrations as an excuse to wreck havoc, but their cowardly behavior does not support it.


I do however think that them not being arrested is not a reason to suspect they were police.

In Israel the police will often handcuff and drag away lots of people, but will release most of them, unless they were actually very violent. This is a method of dislocating people from the crowd. An arrest would usually require reasonable evidence to charge people with.

This Wikipedia report does not match with what I heard at the time.

I suspected that some rioters did something to tick off the police. Here, it says some were throwing bottles and rocks. That fact makes sense.

But what I heard a lot of at the time was that no one had heard any order to disburse. Here, it says that it was broadcast in English to a mostly Spanish-speaking crowd. If so, someone should have heard it.

This article also says commanders issued the order to disburse. It was reported (in I believe the L.A. Times), that no police officer on the scene had enough rank to declare it as an illegal assembly -- that all the senior commanders were off site and out of touch with the officers at the park.

This event took place on May Day. I have not heard the results of the investigations spoken of.
