          sure.

Everyone: Jesus, Wiggy, you're an idiot!
Wiggy: Why isn't anyone sympathizing with my plight?
Everyone: That'd be that "idiot" thing we mentioned earlier...

          I think that covers it.

That was worse because David Floyd got away with it; this is bad, but ultimately makes you believe someone is apportioning out cosmic justice -- so it's actually uplifting!

                  • You were speeding......you were driving recklessly......you caused an accident......you caused damage to another person's vehicle.....you gave a stranger your credit card......and all it cost you was $350?

I'd say this is a 'best case scenario' where you should be absolutely thrilled.

That's really the bottom line here isn't it? A lawsuit could have cost several hundred more, or even thousands if the lady got a hold of some crooked chiropractor.

Second, as has been pointed out, I am apparently not 100% in the clear.

But yes, though I was essentially robbed of $350, I'd be happy if it ended there. Happy, relative to being totally pissed off which is what I will be if I hear anymore about this from than damn woman.

Wiggy, I'm glad that you are on another continent. I prefer that drivers as stupid as you apparently is, is as far away from me as possible.

There is only one responsible here and that's you - you caused the accident

That you made the incident more hilarious by giving your credit card to a stranger, well
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

If she was in front, then you're automatically at least 51% at fault. Even if she slammed on the brakes deliberately with the sole purpose of scrounging a personal injury settlement out of you, legally it doesn't matter as you are required to keep enough of a distance to avoid collision. Some dickheads actually make a living just by slamming on the brakes.

I doubt that. Her fraudulent purchases still expose her to criminal charges, so she'd have to be an idiot to drag this into court.

I don't see anything criminal about what she did. Wiglaf owes her for damaging her property, so he gave her his credit card. At best it's a civil issue, but since it's only $350 I don't think Wiglaf has anything to gain.

I guess I just assumed X using Y's credit card (whether at a grocery store or online) implies the representation that X is Y. That would be a fraudulent purchase regardless of whether Y handed the card to X at some point.

Even if the above is incorrect, there is no proof that Wiglaf consented to random Amazon.com purchases. He could tell the cops that he gave her the card to use for car repairs only, thus making her purchases trespassory.
