Hollywood does have original ideas — specifically, Pixar. It's latest movie, Ratatouie (sp) is a nice film. Heck, there were times I forgot it was animated, it was so realistic-looking.

For all we know, Hasbro probably lobbied some Hollywood executives so they could get their Transformer toys in production again.

I don't think the toy line has ever been off store shelves for any great length of time. It's been there since the 1980s in one iteration or another.

Without exception, every boy who sees this film will be nagging their parents raw to buy them Optimus Prime and co. Hell, even I would like to go and buy Optimus Prime, and I'm 34!

Heh. All men have a little bit of boy in them.

The characters dont look similar to the cartoons, I am a little afraid of being disappointed.

What was the name of the transformer which was a beetle car? and is he in the movie?

Therein lies the problem I have with this film. The Transformers themselves are brilliant. Having not watched the cartoon, I was intrigued by the benevolent Optimus Prime and the evil Megatron. I wanted to know more about them. But all I got was a film about an obnoxious boy. At least John Connor was somewhat likable.

What the preview says is true about this film being the opening act of a franchise trilogy, so it is hard to judge what the whole will be like. This film on its own though is ****e.

Transformers themselves are very cool.
