we looked the other way when the Iraqis nailed a ship with a French missile during the war with Iran, nothing the 2 parties do surprises me. Makes me wonder if it wasn't a missile that hit the 2 turret on the Iowa, they blamed that on some poor sailor killed in the explosion. ****ing traitors...!

It is easy for people to put this out of mind, and made easier still with various kooks having grabbed on to it(not the author mentioned in this piece of course).

I've always wondered at the precise motivation for striking the liberty, The attack by Egypt doesn't fly if we knew their airforce was gone. And they could have just as easily classified the execution of the prisoners. What was the Liberty in danger of stumbling on to?

You had no reasonable rebuttal, Sloww. It neglects the fact that it looked nothing like the Egyptian Horse Carrier they claimed, the repeated recon flights, the clear day, the large American flag, and the coordinated assault by air and sea.

does che strike you as dishonest? Besides, a witness to the attack wrote a book about it. Is he the commie we shouldn't trust? I do know what Bush I and the pentagon did to Clayton Hartwig and his loved ones to cover up an explosion on the Iowa. And I remember the lack of reaction to the Iraqi missile hitting the Stark ???, we have an extensive track record of the military brass hanging the grunts out to cover their own asses.

that's just crazy thinking.

The Liberty was attacked in international water to prevent them from gathering intelligence, which is acceptable in war, as long as the ship belongs to a country you are at war with.

Yes. Israel controlled the skies after it practically wiped out the Egyptian, Syrian and Jordanian air forces during the first day of the war. Also, it's the six-day war.
Also, given the status of the Israeli air-force is relatively badly trained and organised at the time--the Americans gave them planes and training later on--I think it would be understandable for a mistake to occur and I think a mistake did in fact occur.

Saw another thing about Israel's treatment of Palestine in Unreported World. This **** is happening on a daily basis - Israel is STILL building illegal settlements, STILL stealing land, STILL killing people indisciminately...

It amazes me anyone in the world still supports them, unless they agree with their ideology or are gullible brainwashed zombies incapable of independent thought like sloww appears to be - 34 of your countrymen were murdered by this country without provocation sloww, why are you still defending them!?
