  • If the world were to end tomorrow...

Elok's thread got me thinking, since he had such a terrible commencement speaker who was basically saying that the world is going to end tomorrow.

What would you prefer if the world were to end tomorrow? Would you want to know the end was coming or would you prefer to not know.

I would rather be told that the end was coming so at least I would have time to let the people that I love know and spend as much time with them as possible.

How about the rest of you?

    An excellent question.

What if the world was going to end in a week, would you prefer to know or not know? Would you alone want to know, or would you want everyone to know?

What if the world were to end in a month?

    A year?

    Thirty years?

    A hundred years?

    A thousand years?

    A billion years?

I'm not sure at exactly what point most humans behavior would start changing, probably around the 3 year mark, that's about as far as the "Next Quarter Profits" mentality extends.

To stick precisely with "The world ending tomorrow".
Yes I'd like to know. I'd like everyone to know.

The chaos would be $%@^ing sweet.

While I'm sleeping thank you very much. Having said that, odds are we only die once, so I might as well make the most of it and enjoy the occasion or least experience it to the full.

Why would you tell them? If there's ever a case to be made for 'ignorance is bliss", I think this is it.

Besides y'all meet up at the pearly gates anyway.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

I'd rather not know. Knowing about it would just make me sad.

Well, I have preplanned this trip, from about 14 years ago

This old world is not my home

I will be reunited with my whole family in Heaven

But as for wanting to know ahead of time, no, I willmiss Poly, and i will miss civin, but am sure I will have plenty to enjoy and participate in throughout eternity

id rather not know as well!! Chaos will run rampant looting, stealing, killing, all the good stuff . I hope it isnt just me but my faith in humanity isnt as great as it used to be, and if the world was done fore id rather just be blown up.

I rationalize this for the same reason suicide isnt for me, I know it would hurt and i dont like pain.

                    do that anyway

I wouldn't care to know, because I wouldn't do anything different.

I like the line from Hook

Cptn. Hook "Death is the only adventure I have left."

sometimes I misquote ala apolyton style "Death is the only adventure"

we live our whole life venturing towards death

Mrs T, I never quite understood why it is referred to as dropping, when the Acid i experienced took me on such a wild and wooly trip, Mushrooms and Blotter do bring about unpredictable results though
