Nothing about the present balance between Russia and the US/NATO is changed by a single AM base in Poland. If it comes to blows the world is still over.
You seem to overemphasize that currently this missile shield is helpless against Russia. True. But it firmly sets up a potential that it won't be the case on the future. This mere fact destroys the strategic balance.
The balance that changes is that a rogue state could now not be sure that a single missile or a small number of them will strike targets in NA or Europe.

Raise your hand if you're worried about an attack from Russia.
People fail to make the necessary distinction between an imminent threat on one hand and the loss of a long-term built level of communication and diplomacy such as a functioning security architecture. Take as an example their threat to leave the treaty on conventional forces. Looking at their forces it seems a laugh, but it does disturb relations which, if they were better, could serve to solve problems in other fields.
In case of no clashing interests good relations are still preferable to bad ones. In case of clashing interests this holds even more.

Don't laugh too much. The Russian forces are at their highest since the fall of the Soviet Union.
And relations sometimes need to be disturbed. If partners don't get some simple things, that is.

Sometimes it's necessary for the relations to worsen before they could get any better.
I think Russia's strategy is more like bargaining, because they realise that they have a choice that we don't - that between Asia and the west. They know we want their resources, so they play hard to get. Like with a girl, the kind of story that results in really good sex. So I don't really reject your idea. Just saying that in the short run it looks like the shattering of a valued diplomatic edifice.
I think the bigger question here is who the **** cares what Russia and Pooty-Pout thinks? They literally couldn't pay their military to do jack, given the state has almost no money since the fall of the USSR, let alone participate in a nuclear war which would utterly devastate an already hobbled Russia.
The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.
The Weighted Companion Cube is cheating on you, that slut.

So let us hope that we (Europe and Russia) will eventually join in an ecstatic embrace.

Your info is outdated. And don't extrapolate what you don't care about to other (presumably more serious) people.

So we aren't paying you to do something that you should be doing yourselves (securing your nuclear stocks)?
